Rukmini, Krishnan ‘best all-rounders’

HYDERABAD: CPCRI, Kasargod, defeated CIFT, Cochin, 5-0 in the football final of the ICAR inter-institutional sports meet which concluded here. K.K. Rukmini Ammal (NAARM, Hyderabad) was adjudged ‘best all-rounder’ in women’s section and K. Krishnan Nair of CPCRI (Kasargod) in men’s category.

NAARM won the overall championship with 100 points while CPCRI (Kasargod) was second with 73 points. Dr. Y. S. Ramakrishna, Director, CRIDA, Hyderabad, Dr. S. M. Ilyas, Director, NAARM, gave away the prizes.

Easy win for Techpoint

Techpoint Solutions scored a comfortable, 89-run win over Suchirindia in the Concern India Foundation cricket tournament for corporate groups here.

The scores: De Shaw 119 (Hemanth 40, Rahul five for 19) bt Bajaj Allianz 83; Techpoint Solutions 148 (Srikanth 43) bt Suchirindia 59; Basix 64 lost to Intelligroup 68 for five.

Praveen to lead

K. Praveen Kumar will lead Andhra Pradesh in the seventh all-India BSNL cricket tournament to be played in Indore (Madhya Pradesh) from February 10 to 17.

Athletics trials

The trials to select the Krishna District athletics contingent for the forthcoming State-level sub-junior athletics meet will be held at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium in Vijayawada on February 7 at 9.30 a.m. according to Krishna District Amateur Athletic Association Secretary A. Raghavendra Rao on Wednesday. The meet will be held at the CBR Sports Academy at Kethanakonda near Ibrahimpatnam on February 9 and 10.

All the participants should report to SAI coach D.N.V. Vinayak Prasad on February 9 with their birth certificates.

K.R. Arun Kumar of AP dropped a set before beating Yogesh Shah of Gujarat to make the last eight in the 45-plus category event of the third CMR-AISTA veterans’ all-India ranking tournament in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.
