NEW DELHI: The Gurgaon police have sought details of patients visiting diagnostic laboratories in the Capital in the past two years to ascertain possible connivance of these laboratories with the kidney racketeers. “We are seeking details of patients who have visited diagnostic laboratories in the Capital in the past two years to know whether their staff was aware of the illegal transplant of kidneys. It is also possible that the tests had been conducted without the involvement of the staff,” said a senior Gurgaon police officer. Over 10 hospitals and diagnostic laboratories in the Capital had come under the scanner following the disclosure that some routine check-ups had been carried out there and in some cases patients were even provided post-operative care in some of these hospitals. “It is possible that a couple of doctors and staff members may have been hand in glove with the racketeers and the administration was unaware about this,” the officer added. Meanwhile, the Gurgaon police are pinning all their hopes on the interrogation of Upender, who is in the custody of Moradabad police, to seek more information about the gang. “At present we are solely dependent on the information provided by the Moradabad police ,” the officer said.
