NEW DELHI: An 80-year-old businessman allegedly shot himself dead with his revolver at his Vikaspuri residence here . A suicide note said he was upset over being cheated by his former business partner. Charanjeet Singh Anand had a construction company in Madhya Pradesh and his only son Harminder Pal Singh (55) lives with his family in Chandigarh. Both father and son had reached the Capital about 10 days ago as Harminder’s mother-in-law was admitted to Apollo Hospital with some ailment. On Monday, Mr. Anand had called his lawyer home to discuss a cheating case involving his former business partner as it was coming up for hearing in court on February 15. Mr. Anand had already lost another case to his former business partner. According to the police, the lawyer left after discussing the case, following which Mr. Anand’s manager went to the market to make some purchases around 4 p.m. While his son was away attending to his mother-in-law and a domestic help was out in the lawn, Mr. Anand allegedly shot himself in the temple in a room. The bullet pierced his head and got embedded in the wall. The incident came to light around 8 p.m. when the domestic help went to wake up the businessman and found him lying on the bed in an unconscious state with blood oozing from his mouth. The police were informed about the incident at 10-45 p.m.
