Pakistan must stop meddling in our affairs: Fernandes

Staff Correspondent

DAVANGERE: The former Defence Minister George Fernandes said here on Wednesday that Pakistan should stop meddling in India’s affairs.

Mr. Fernandes said terrorist infiltration into the country from Pakistan had been going on for many years, and the steps taken by different governments at the Centre had failed to curb it.

In an informal chat with presspersons, Mr. Fernandes, who was here to take part in a function organised to unveil the statue of the late J.H. Patel, former Chief Minister, said Pakistan should be told in clear terms not to interfere in India’s internal affairs.

He urged the Government to chalk out a programme on providing jobs for the youth so that they were not brainwashed and mislead. He wondered why the Government chose to scrap POTA, which had been effective in checking terrorist activities.
