FKCCI submits wish list
Special Correspondent
Bangalore: The Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) has submitted its interim pre-budget memorandum to S. Krishna Kumar, adviser to the Governor.
It has demanded that the HAL Airport be used for short haul domestic and international flights (to locations such as Sri Lanka and Maldives) be continued even after the new airport at Devanahalli, near here, becomes operational. It has also suggested that the roadworks leading to the new airport be completed before it becomes operational.
Subsidy
The FKCCI has demanded that the subsidy for industrial power be increased from Rs. 1,800 crore to Rs. 3,900 crore, and that the threshold for registration for Value Added Tax (VAT) raised from Rs. 2 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh.
The exemption from VAT on items such as wheat, rice and “maida” be continued till March 2009.
It expressed “strong opposition to the hasty decision to implement the Agricultural Produce and Marketing Committee (APMC) Model Act” and called for detailed discussion with all stakeholders on the issue.
It sought abolition of the entry tax, and exemption from entertainment tax for Kannada “remake” films. It said that sales tax on diesel be reduced and the entry tax on fuel abolished.
