‘Review contracts’

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: The former Irrigation Minister H.N. Nanje Gowda has appealed to Governor Rameshwar Thakur to look into the details of lease contracts for operating 13 mini-hydel projects in the Shivanasamudram area.

He told presspersons here on Wednesday that he had provided all details of the projects active in the area.

The Government had awarded the contracts for the projects, which had been generating 262 MW, to four persons, and all of them were from outside the State.

Four contracts had gone to Pratap Reddy, two to a son-in-law of the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, six to Keshava Reddy, said to be a close relative of the Andhra Pradesh Home Minister, and one to a person from Tamil Nadu, Mr. Gowda alleged.

Awarding all the contracts to outsiders had created apprehensions in the public mind, and, therefore, the Government should immediately review the award of contracts, Mr. Gowda said.
