Jewellery stolen

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Thieves made away with jewellery worth about 20 sovereigns from a house in Velachery on Sunday. Saleem, a resident of Velachery, and his wife, Mobina, found their almirah moved from its place when they woke up on Monday morning. The couple filed a complaint with the police on Wednesday.

The police denied that the robbery had been executed by a bureau puller. The police said the delay in registering the case was due to the confusion about the police jurisdiction under which Saleem’s house fell. Though the complainant’s house is in Velachery, it falls under the Guindy police station. Further investigation is on.
