Insurance scheme for girls planned

Sandeep Joshi

NEW DELHI: The government is planning to introduce an attractive insurance scheme for girls through the Department of Posts, besides setting up an investment board to manage the latter’s booming life insurance business.

“The insurance scheme, with attractive premium and other benefits, would prove to be a boon for girls across the country, particularly those in rural areas,” said Secretary (Posts) I.M.G. Khan.

Mr. Khan, who released the special cover on the launch of Quasquicentennial (125th anniversary) celebrations of the department here on Tuesday, said the “Rural Postal Life Insurance” (RPLI) scheme was doing very well and had led to amassing of huge funds.

It had been decided to invest the corpus properly so that stakeholders get the maximum monetary benefits.
