THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister for Local Self Government Paloli Mohamedkutty said here on Wednesday that the Congress was trying to undermine the Kudumbasree programme by launching the Janasree programme. Addressing a press meet here, the Minister said that that those promoting Janasree should explain the need for that when Kudumbasree was going strong. The scheme was proposed to be emulated by other States. Mr. Mohamedkutty said that the State government would convert the Kudumbasree programme, which was launched as a temporary mission for empowerment of women and elimination of poverty, into a permanent setup. He said that Union Minister P. Chidambaram’s call to banks to finance Janasree amounted to misuse of authority. It was a move with the coming Parliamentary elections in view. The banks should not fall for that.
