Capital faces power, water crisis
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: The Capital on Wednesday grappled with power and water shortage. While the pond and canal levels at Wazirabad fell from 673.5 metres to 673.3 metres and from 710 m to 709.2 m respectively, water production dropped by 10 per cent at the Chandrawal, Haiderpur and Nangloi treatment plants.
A Delhi Jal Board official, however, said there was no crisis and the city’s demand was met. “Since the weather is good, there was no major shortfall,” the official said.
Power cuts were also reported from several areas in the Capital including parts of North Delhi, West Delhi and North West Delhi on account of tripping of 400 kV lines of Delhi Transco. The tripping of these lines caused transmission constraints in parts of the northern region.
