In basic colours -- blue, green, yellow To be colour coded in a special way NEW DELHI: Getting lost and asking for directions in the New Delhi Municipal Council area may soon be a thing of the past. If all goes well, the civic body will soon put up standardised sign boards incorporating “intelligent design” techniques for the benefit of commuters. After presenting the project proposal to the Chief Minister recently, the NDMC is now working out the details of its implementing on a pilot basis on Maulana Azad Road. First timeApart from sign boards identifying roads and places in its area, the civic body’s proposal also includes putting up mandatory as well as cautionary sign boards for parking and driving purposes. According to an NDMC official, such a project is being attempted by the civic body for the first time. “We have designed it in three basic colours -- blue, green and yellow. In addition, the sign boards put at roundabouts would be colour coded in a special way with the sign of the immediate road coming first on the roundabout being coloured in a different colour. Though this is a new concept, we hope it will catch on with Delhiites in due time,” he added. “This is going to be a major project for us in terms of its scale and conceptualisation. At present, it is at a nascent stage and once sanctioned, we will invite tenders very soon.”
