BMTC’s drive on ticketless travel nets Rs. 2.44 lakh

BANGALORE: Line checking squads of Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), during their drive against travel without tickets last week, realised a penalty of Rs. 2.44 lakh from 2,008 passengers. The drive was conducted by 127 batches of the Vigilance and Security wing of the corporation, which checked 5,612 trips. The newly-recruited retired police officers apprehended 58 persons who allegedly resold BMTC day passes. The accused have been handed over to the police.
