Ayesha case: Mahila Samakhya plea to YSR
HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Mahila Samakhya has urged Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy to hand over the investigation into the murder of pharmacy student Ayesha Meera to the International Truth Foundation, an independent forensic centre and the Central Bureau of India.
In a representation presented to the Chief Minister on Thursday, Samakhya president Pasya Padma and general secretary P. Prem Pavani claimed that Dr. Reddy agreed to forward their request to the International Truth Foundation to bring out the facts.
They said that there was urgent need to reconstitute the AP Women’s Commission, which had become non-functional. They urged the government to ensue that training should be provided to girl students to protect themselves. They also said counselling centres and grievance redressal cells should become functional in colleges. They wanted that all the colleges should have their own hostels and suggested that the government officials monitor functioning of the women’s hostels.
