Rice allotted

Thiruvananthapuram: The Centre has allotted 10,000 tonnes of rice as the first instalment to Kerala. The allotment was done following talks which Food and Civil Supplies Minister C. Divakaran held with Union Food Minister Sharad Pawar in Delhi on Thursday. The former’s office said here on Thursday that the distribution of the rice from the FCI’s godown would begin immediately. A delegation led by the Chief Minister and consisting of the Food and Law Ministers earlier submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister and the Union Food Minister. – Special Correspondent
