‘India being dragged into global warming debate’
HYDERABAD: Even as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has refused to commit to emission targets that risk slowing economic growth, a senior official of the Central government has expressed concern at the way the country is being dragged into the discussion on global warming.
The efforts were aimed at diverting the attention from the developmental path of the country, Union Ministry of Earth Sciences secretary P.S. Goel said. He was participating in an international workshop on “digital geography – spatial technology in geosciences” jointly organised by the National Geophysical Research Institute and AP Geographical; Society here on Thursday.
