CPI(M) stands exposed: BJP

Neena Vyas

NEW DELHI: The CPI(M) is no longer driven by communist ideology and it is “moneyism” that is now in the driver’s seat, according to the BJP.

BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said here on Thursday that the CPI(M) was first exposed over the Nandigram issue. Then came its “shameful stance” on Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen. And finally, its real face stood exposed following the killing in police firing of workers of its partner, the Forward Bloc, who were merely exposing corruption, in West Bengal.

Mr. Javadekar said the factional politics of the CPI(M) in Kerala was simply a quarrel over who would control the money. “It is not communism but moneyism that now drives the party,” he said.

Telangana issue

On Telangana, the BJP said it always favoured smaller States and it had openly stated it would support the formation of a separate Telangana from Andhra Pradesh. There was no question of backing out of this as both party president Rajnath Singh and BJP’s prime ministerial candidate L.K. Advani had publicly committed themselves to the cause of Telangana.

Mr. Javadekar decried the talk of a second States Reorganisation Commission, pointing out that the first had also recommended a separate Telangana.
