Thrilling win for City

CHENNAI: City secured a one-run win over Combined Districts in the under-25 City v Districts match at the ICL-Guru Nanak college ground on Thursday.

The scores:

City 240 for eight in 50 overs (Wilkins Victor 63, A. Srinivas 65 n.o.) bt Combined Districts 239 for nine in 50 overs (V. Subramania Siva 55, Malolan Rangarajan four for 46).

Chandra sizzles

Chandra Mouleeswaran’s (five for 15 and 45 not out) all-round performance enabled St. Mary’s ‘B’ beat PSBB ‘B’ by 10 wickets in the TNCA City Schools under-13 cricket tournament here on Thursday.

The scores: Govt. HSS 61 in 28 overs (Md. Afran Khader three for 12) lost to St. Bede’s ‘A’ 63 for no loss in 11.3 overs (R. Mohd. Musthafa 36 not out).

Sri Sankara Vidyalaya 64 in 24 overs (Akash Sivan three for four, Aravind Mahadevan three for 17) lost to PS SSS 65 for no loss in 8.1 overs (M. Adithyan 42 not out).

The Hindu HSS 130 in 26.3 overs (G. Arun 63) lost to Don Bosco ‘A’ 134 for two in 24 overs (Sharu Khan 47, Mohd. Fayaz 40).

PSBB ‘B’ (Ch-78) 126 for eight in 30 overs (S. Preetam Anand 29, Chandra Mouleeswaran five for 15, V. Karthik three for 26) lost to St. Mary’s ‘B’ 128 for no loss in 18.2 overs (Ankit 63 not out, Chandra Mouleeswaran 45 not out).

Prabhu scalps five

H.N. Prabhu’s five for 20 helped Autolec RC register a ten-wicket win over Sundaram Clayton RC in the CANARA BANK-TDCA II division cricket league.

Sundaram Clayton RC 41 in 18.1 overs (H.N. Prabhu five for 20) lost to Autolec RC 42 for no loss in 6.1 overs.

Thiruvallur CC 201 for four in 30 overs (R. Sabhorish 51) bt Thiruthani CC 100 for nine in 30 overs.

SRF RC 168 in 27.4 overs (S. Gunaseelan 53, P. Dhathojwal four for 45) bt Parthasarathy MCC 118 in 28.4 overs (A. Srinivas 44, K.V. Hariharan five for 31, Vijay four for 30).

Madurai DCA in final

Madurai DCA entered the final of the TNCA inter-district under-13 cricket tournament by spin of coin after the semifinal against Tiruvallur DCA ended in a draw.

S. Harish Babu made 117 as Tiruvallur finished the second day on 205 for nine in reply to Madurai’s 239. R. David took five for 49 for Madurai.

The scores: Madurai 239 in 117.5 overs (J. Prasanna Venkatesh 148, Ateeq Fazal 29, L. Varun four for 52, L. Ganesh Lingam three for 46) drew with Tiruvallur 205 for nine in 66 overs (S. Harish Babu 117, L. Varun 25, Akshay P. Rai 30, R. David five for 49).

Tiruvallur wins title

Tiruvallur defeated Tiruchi by seven wickets to win the TNCA u-22 inter-district cricket final at Tiruchi on Thursday.

Resuming at 57 for four, Tiruchi was dismissed for 200 in its second innings, with P. Shijith Chandran returning a six-wicket haul.

Needing 72 to win, Tiruvallur scored the required runs in 18.5 overs losing three wickets.

The scores (final):

Tiruchi 189 & 200 in 52.2 overs (M. Saravanan 44, P. Shijith Chandran six for 65) lost to Tiruvallur 318 & 73 for three in 18.5 overs.

Coimbatore triumphs

At Coimbatore, a first innings lead of 22 runs enabled host Coimbatore defeat Kancheepuram and emerged champion in the TNCA under-19 inter-district cricket tournament at the SNR Sons grounds here.

Kancheepuram was well poised to take the lead at 272 for four.

Then, K.R. Sethumadhavan (four for 80) came up with a timely spell to turn the tide in Coimbatore’s favour.

Final: Coimbatore 336 & 152 for three in 34 overs (R. Hariprasad 43, Soham Desai 39 not out) drew with Kancheepuram 314 in 103 overs (Srivatsan 55, Kevin Sukumar 133, Ashwin Kumar 55, K.R. Sethumadhavan four for 80).
