NEDUMBASSERY: Amid concerns of possible full-emergency landing, the Oman Air flight that took off from Muscat landed safely at the Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery on Wednesday morning. The Muscat airport authorities had found a piece of tyre of the aircraft on the runway, just after the flight took off to Kochi and alerted the pilots of the flight and the Kochi airport authorities about the situation, triggering panic. The Kochi airport authorities immediately alerted the various agencies to take all necessary steps for a possible full emergency landing. When the aircraft reached Kochi, the pilot requested the authorities for a low-flying permission for enabling the safety officers to examine the damages to the tyre. Later, the aircraft exercised a ‘touch and go’ exercise to test the defects and landed safely at 7.01 a.m. with a delay of more than half-an-hour.
