BANGALORE: A young man hoodwinked the cashier of an old age home in V.V. Puram and made away with Rs. 1.21 lakh cash on Thursday. The police said that around noon, a well-dressed man came to Ashaktha Poshaka Sabha, situated near Sajjan Rao Circle. He told cashier Sumathi that he was a businessman and was a regular donor. He told her that he needed the blessing of the elderly people living in the old age home as he was planning to setup a jewellery shop. The police said he gave a Rs. 500 note to Sumathi and requested her to return it after putting the note in the cash box. After an unsuspecting Sumathi obliged, he asked her for change for Rs. 50. Soon after he left, Sumathi found that Rs. 1.21 lakh was missing from the cash box. The Central police have registered a case. Bomb hoaxAn anonymous phone call stating that a bomb had been planted at a building housing more than five software companies, created much panic among the employees, later turned out to be a hoax. The police rushed to the building on Koramangala Outer Ring Road, coming under Airport Road Police Station limits, and searched the premises. Sniffer dogs were pressed into service. The police said that the entire premises was thoroughly checked, and the call, which came in at around 6.10 p.m., would be traced. Two murderedAn electrical contractor was found murdered on Bangalore-Mysore Highway in Kengeri police station limits on Thursday morning. The police said the assailants had strangled A. Narayana (45), a resident of Avalahalli. His body was found in front of a private company at Mylasandra Gate. His motorcycle was found at the spot. The Kengeri police, who have registered a case, said they were yet to ascertain the motive behind the murder. Another man aged around 35 was found murdered at Kurubarahalli on Magadi Road on the outskirts of the city on Thursday. The police said the decomposed body of the man was found floating in a quarry pit. The assailants had smashed his head and attacked him on the neck and arms with sharp weapons. Murder foiledThe Central Crime Branch staff on Wednesday arrested a 10-member gang and foiled its alleged plan to murder Machohalli Gram Panchayat president on Magadi Road on the outskirts of the city. The police said Janardhan alias Jani of Tavarekere, who is lodged in Chitradurga jail, along with some fellow prisoners, had plotted the murder of his relative and political rival Kadabagere Rama alias Poison Rama.
