80-year-old woman sets herself on fire

NEW DELHI: An 80-year-old widow allegedly committed suicide by setting herself afire at Dabri here on Wednesday. Sanmato Devi allegedly locked herself in a room, poured kerosene and set herself afire. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Enquiries revealed that Sanmato Devi had been pestering her son Jai Narayan to send her back to her village. Jai Narayan assured her that she would be sent on February 12 as the family had to attend a marriage there. However, Sanmato Devi apparently lost her temper on Wednesday night and allegedly took the extreme step.
