Letters to the Editor
The sight of politicians dividing people on the basis of regional affiliations is shameful. Raj Thackeray's tirade against Amitabh Bachchan exposes the MNS leader's ploy to get publicity by bashing a celebrity. It is love for one's country not State that is more important and Amitabh has represented our country well globally. He is not known to the world as a person hailing from Uttar Pradesh or Maharashtra but as an Indian. Raj Thackeray should tender a public apology for his remarks and should be jailed for disturbing law and order. Vishaal Vyas, HyderabadFor the past several days, we have seen sporadic incidents of violence in Mumbai. Property worth crores has been destroyed because of one individual uttering words of hate against a section of the people. Is Deputy Chief Minister R.R. Patil still waiting for proof to arrest the leader who started the violence? Chelladurai Williams,Chennai It is dishonourable to play politics and garner votes by dividing society on communal/regional lines. Raj Thackeray is clearly after publicity, nothing else. A.N. Prasad,Bangalore
