Tirupati
In reverence: The newly-introduced ’Sahasra Deepalankara’ seva being performed to Goddess Padmavathi at Tiruchanur on Friday. TIRUPATI: The TTD management has taken steps to ensure that some festival or other goes on daily in all its local temples to sustain the spiritual atmosphere. This was indicated here on Friday by TTD Trust Board Chairman B. Karunakar Reddy while formally introducing ‘Sahasra Deepalankara Seva’ in the temple of Goddess Padmavathi at Tiruchanur. He said that after the board had assumed office about Rs. 11 crore worth of jewellery and ornaments were made and adorned to the deities in the TTD temples located in and around Tirupati. He said that this is in sharp contrast to the situation during the last one decade when no new ornament was adorned to the deities in the local temples. The newly introduced ‘Deepalankara Seva’ would be performed in the Tiruchanur temple every Friday between 5 and 6 p.m. and five devotees could attend the seva on a ticket priced at Rs.500 each. Float festivalMeanwhile, the TTD announced that the five-day float festival of Sri Govindarajaswamy temple, Tirupati, would get underway from February 16 and said Annamacharya Project and the Dharma Prachara Parishat will be organising devotional programmes on the eve of the fete.
