This Day That Age
Several important recommendations in regard to various stages of education, viz., basic, secondary, higher and social education have been made by the Central Advisory Board of Education which concluded its two-day deliberations in New Delhi on February 7. These recommendations mainly aim at the improvement of the educational standards and efficiency of the teaching profession. The Board has laid particular stress on the need for narrowing the gap between basic and non-basic education at all stages. It also discussed the nature of preparation necessary for the professional courses at the university level and decided to reconsider the matter after the All-India Council of Technical Education and the Deshmukh Committee, which are at present looking into the questions, have submitted their reports.
