dated February 9, 1958: Governor’s address

The Governor of Madras, Mr. Bishnuram Medhi, addressing the budget session of the two houses of Legislature on February 8, referred to land reforms and announced that the Government proposed to bring in interim legislation fixing a provisional ceiling pending finalisation of the question relating to ceilings for land holdings. Coming as he did from far off Assam, and addressing the legislature of the State for the first time after assuming office as Governor, Mr. Medhi, dwelt on the bond of unity that held them all together and the need for nourishing and preserving that vital sense of national solidarity.
