Cargo complex is managed by the KSIE Constructed at a cost of Rs.1 crore MALAPPURAM: Industries Minister Elamaram Karim inaugurated a new export terminal building of the Calicut air cargo complex at Karipur on Friday evening. The cargo complex is managed by the Kerala State Industrial Enterprises (KSIE). Mr. Karim said new industrial ventures would be launched in the State with the participation of the Union government. Areas such as food processing, information technology and biotechnology would be given thrust. Central helpMr. Karim said the Union government had offered a helping hand. The new terminal building of 7,000 sq. ft was constructed at a cost of Rs.1 crore. In the next phase of development of the cargo complex, Rs.3 crore would be spent. Nearly half that amount would be chipped in by the Centre. Mammen Iype, chairman of the KSIE, welcomed the gathering. K. Mohammedunni Haji, MLA, presided over the function. A.B. Niranjan Babu, joint commissioner of Customs and Central Excise; Chinson V.S. Panakkal, director of the Calicut International Airport; P.A. Nazeera, president of the Kondotty block panchayat; spoke.
