KANNUR: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) at Panniyur under the Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) secured the first project under the Rural Innovation Fund (RIF) of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) designed to support innovative, risk-friendly and unconventional experiments in farm and non-farm sectors. A press release issued by the KVK here said that this project was submitted by P.P. Moossa, Assistant Professor of KVK. The project aimed to develop an unprecedented product from coir pith, a waste material in coir industry. The project envisaged standardisation of a potentially effective material named ‘smoking stick’ for smoking purpose in rubber sheet making. OutlayThe project had an outlay of Rs.5.9 lakh, the first instalment of which was released by Chief General Manager of Nabard Bhavar Puri at a recent function at the KVK, the release said.
