Seven categoriesThe awards were given in seven categories. English and regional languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, would be considered for the awards, said Dr. Sharada. The NGOs were fighting against the female foeticide, non-implementation of PC-PNDT Act and girl child abuse. Lok Satta president N. Jayaprakash Narayan said that he was particularly supporting the movements espousing the cause of girl child, for their future should not be endangered. If female foeticide continued, there would be anarchy. Females would be gripped by insecurity due to sociological dangers.
