THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Host Thiruvananthapuram defeated Malappuram 6-3 to enter the men’s semifinals of the State senior, junior and sub-junior cycle polo championships at the Mar Ivanios College ground here on Friday. Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Idukki completed the semifinal line-up. In women’s section, Idukki, Alappuzha, Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam entered the semifinals. The results (quarterfinals): Men: Thiruvananthapuram bt Malappuram 6-3.; Alappuzha bt Kasaragod 7-2, Ernakulam bt Kozhikode 9-7; Idukki bt Pathanamthitta 5-3. Junior boys: Ernakulam bt Pathanamthitta 7-4; Idukki bt Kozhiode 5-1; Thiruvananthapuram bt Kasaragod 7-2; Alappuzha bt Thrissur 4-1. Sub-junior boys: Thiruvananthapuram bt Kozhikode 9-2; Ernakulam bt Palakkad 6-2; Alappuzha bt Idukki 8-4; Kasaragod bt Pathanamthitta 9-2.
