The historic Ridge maidan in Shimla after heavy snowfall on Friday. SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh was again in the grip of an intense cold wave on Friday with a fresh snowfall and widespread rain which paralysed normal life at a number of places. Two children and a woman were killed as avalanches triggered by heavy snow swept mountain slopes in two separate incidents. High and mid hills continued to experience heavy snowfall for the sixth day on Friday. The death toll due to intense cold and accidents following inclement weather has climbed to 14, official sources said. Vehicular traffic has been suspended on the Chamba-Pathankot, Chamba-Tissa, Chamba-Bharmaur and Chamba-Saloni roads following heavy snow. The remote areas of Bharmaur and Pangi in Chamba district, Dodra Kawar in Shimla district and several areas in Kinnaur and Lahaul Spiti district were alsocut off . Thirty-nine people stranded at various places in Bharmaur, Lahaul Spiti and along the Jammu and Kashmir border could not be evacuated so far due to inclement weather. All tourist resorts of Dharamsala, Shimla, Kufri and Narkanda continued to experience intermittent snowfall for the fourth day on Friday. Shimla town had recorded about 30 cm of snow while Kufri and Narkanda were under 80 and 120 cm of snow respectively. The minimum temperature in Shimla was minus 0.6 degrees, while Sundernagar recorded 5.1 degrees, Bhuntar 5.6 and , Dharamsala 0.8 degrees.
