HYDERABAD: Pursuing education in United Kingdom seems to be the ‘in-thing’ for scores of students from the twin cities and elsewhere in the State. AP students have garnered 40 per cent of student visas issued in September-2007 admissions to various UK varsities. It’s not all. Students from the State form the largest chunk of ‘student-community’ from South India to have successfully applied for students visas for higher education. These facts were given by Head Education (South India) British Council L. Dhanasekaran during British Council’s ‘Education UK’ exhibition at Taj Krishna. “In Sept-2007 admissions, we processed 6,846 visas out of which 40 per cent of the students were from Andhra Pradesh. At the moment, there are 27,000 Indian students pursuing education in various UK varsities. Opportunities have opened-up in a big-way for Indian students,” Mr. Dhanasekaran said. Seminar inauguratedOver 60 varsities from the UK and their representatives are participating in the two-day exhibition, which was inaugurated on Friday. Seminars on topics like biotechnology, business and management, postgraduate courses and student visas are also a part of the exhibition.
