Budget: plea to Finance Minister

HYDERABAD: The State committee of Jana Vignana Vedika has urged Finance Minister K. Rosaiah to allocate seven per cent of the 2008-09 budget for education, health and welfare. A delegation of the Vedika submitted a representation to the Minister, who is to present the budget on February 16, demanding that Rs.7,000 crore be allocated for health, Rs.3,800 crore for rural medicare and PHCs, Rs.400 crore for medicines, Rs.298 crore for building new PHCs and Rs. 373 crore for medical colleges, among others. –Special Correspondent
