TDP flays government

HYDERABAD: Estimating that the expenditure incurred by the government on publicity had crossed Rs.1,000 crore, the Telugu Desam on Friday demanded a white paper on the funds spent to publicise various programmes.

Briefing reporters after the party’s polit bureau meeting here, senior TDP leaders Y. Ramakrishnudu, K. Srihari and R. Chandrasekhar Reddy criticised the Government on the issue. The leaders alleged that no welfare programme was being properly implemented. They recalled that Chief Minister Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy, as the Leader of Opposition, used to fault the TDP regime for spending huge amounts on publicity. The United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA) would stage dharna at the Parliament House on February 26 on farmers’ problems.
