BHUBANESWAR: After a series of dance and music concerts in the city during this festival season, now it has been the turn of the theatre to woo the connoisseurs. And city-based 29-year-old Manana Natya Sanstha is set to roll the ball with its five-day drama festival commencing on Monday while three other organisations are gearing up for their annual drama festivals here. Briefing the media persons, Manana president and dramatist Manoj Pattanayak said that the five-day event scheduled to be staged at Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya auditorium would feature five Oriya plays. The inaugural evening would stage ‘Panu Padhan Chalighara’ by Manana troupe while the Rourkela-based Sampark theatre group would stage ‘Baaksha’ on the second evening. The next plays would be ‘Kritadas’ and Girish Karnad’s Oriya adaptation ‘Nagamandal’, which are slated to be staged during the third and fourth evening respectively. Popular film and theatre director Hara Patnaik directed ‘Holiday Home’, an adaptation of a Bengali play, would be the concluding show of the festival, Mr.Patnaik elaborated. The Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Kolkata is collaborating in hosting of the festival.
