Elaborate security arrangements made for Governor’s visit He inaugurates Residential school for girls BERHAMPUR: Governor Muralidhar Chandrakant Bhandare visited communal violence hit areas of Kandhamal district on Friday. He visited Brahmanigaon and Barakhama which were worst hit by the communal tension in December. At Brahmanigaon, he visited the victims of both communities, who are now compelled to live in tents as their houses were gutted in the communal clashes. He also visited the relief camp at Barakhama. Elaborate security arrangements had been made at both the places during the visit of the Governor. Later, the Governor held a review meeting at Phulbani with the district officials regarding the rehabilitation and security measures taken up after the communal violence. He stressed the need for speedy construction of new houses for the victims who have lost their houses. Speaking to newsmen he said new houses should be better than their old houses. The Governor also visited a residential school for girls at Pakargaon village. There he urged the girls to promote education in their area and to stop school dropouts.
