BERHAMPUR: The Ganjam Bar Association has given a dawn to dusk bandh call on Feb 13 demanding a permanent bench of the Orissa High Court in the city. The members of the Ganjam Bar Association and other bar associations of the district are on strike for the past two months. MeetingOn Friday the Ganjam Bar Association had convened the executive body meeting to decide the future course of action. President of the Ganjam Bar Association S.N.Rath said the bar association members unanimously decided to hold a bandh on February 13 in Ganjam district. It may be noted that Bhanjanagar Bar Association organised bandh at the sub-divisional headquarters on Thursday. Leaders of the Ganjam Bar Association said they had to call for a bandh as the State Government as well as the Chief Minister did not seem to be serious about the issue despite holding meeting with the agitating lawyers. The Chief Minister had written a letter to the Chief Justice of the High Court requesting him for the establishment of high court benches in the state. But the Chief Justice had rejected the request of the Chief Minister. Mr Rath said that it was the duty of the Chief Minister to get a resolution passed by the State Cabinet or the State Assembly in favour of establishment of High Court benches in the State.
