CHANDIGARH: The Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) project being implemented in six districts of Haryana has now been extended to the remaining 14 districts during the current financial year, according to Additional Director (Agriculture) B. S. Duggal. Presiding over the Strategic Research and Extension Plan (SREP) training programme on ATMA model organised in Gurgaon, he said the Centre had now granted approval for covering the remaining districts so that the entire State is covered under the decentralised extension programme. He said the ATMA project was aimed at bringing co-ordination and an integrated approach among various line departments, research organisations, NGOs and agencies associated with agriculture development. The training programme was attended by Deputy Directors, Sub-Divisional Officers, Agriculture Development Officers and other officials. Mr. Duggal said that Farmers’ Advisory Committees comprising 12 to 15 farmers would be constituted at the divisional level as autonomous institutions under the ATMA project to provide a flexible working environment involving all the stakeholders in planning and implementation of extension activities.
