LIC to network 4 more divisions in South Zone

VELLORE: The Enterprise Document Management System (EDMS) being implemented by the Life Insurance Corporation of India in four divisions in South Zone will be extended to four more divisions in the second phase, according to B. Manivannan, Zonal Manager, LIC, South Zone.
Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, Mr. Manivannan said the EDMS enabled the LIC to scan 23-crore policy files and store them on a computer. This system enables the policy-holders to avail themselves of services such as obtaining loan, and claiming survival/maturity benefit on their policies from any other branch in India. In the first phase, the system has been introduced in four divisions in South Zone - Chennai-I, Chennai-II, Madurai and Kottayam.
Mr. Manivannan said the South Zone, comprising Tamil Nadu and Kerala and the Union Territory of Puducherry, stood first in the country in business volume, growth and achievement budget. Two more satellite offices - one each at Kattumannarkoil and Villianur would be opened in the Vellore Division before the month-end, he said.
