No LTTE intrusion into State: DGP
MADURAI: There is no intrusion of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam into the State, Director General of Police P. Rajendran said here on Friday.
“Everything is under our control. The ‘Q’ Branch and the Coastal Security Group are very active and there has been no intrusion,” he told reporters. Law and order in the State was under control and people had confidence in the police.
Denying tapping telephones of politicians, Mr. Rajendran said he could not answer those “seeking publicity” from the issue.
Mr. Rajendran said the police did not discriminate anti-social elements on political lines. “For them, they are rowdies and action is taken.”
The police had very little to do with murders linked to illicit relationships. “All that we can do is quick investigation and arrest of the accused.” People these days were losing their patience even over petty issues, he said. Elders in the family and social organisations had a major role in counselling them. The introduction of Tata Nano car would further congest roads in the State. Around 800 new vehicles were being registered every day in Chennai city alone, he said.
