NHRC notice
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI: The National Human Rights Commission has asked the Union Home Secretary and the Delhi Police Commissioner to come out with their stand following a complaint concerning controversial Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen. They were given two weeks to file replies.
The Commission issued the directive after a group of writers alleged that Ms. Nasreen was not able to converse with anyone except government officials and was undergoing agony.
Notices were also sent to the West Bengal Chief Secretary and the Director-General of Police based on a report on the killing of five Forward Bloc activists in Wednesday’s police firing at Dinhata.
