Superstars advances

Chennai: Chennai Superstars will take on Delhi Jets in the final of the ICL domestic championship on Sunday.

Neither Chandigarh Lions nor Kolkata Tigers, who clashed on Thursday, managed to reach the summit stage.

In a must-win match on Friday, the Lions lost to the Tigers by three wickets.

Batsmen held sway in the contest in which Lions’ Dinesh Mongia played a captain’s knock of 108 (129 balls, 6x4, 4x6).

Rohan Gavaskar led Tiger’s charge to chase Lions’ total of 272 for seven, and scored 67 (82b, 3 x 4, 3 x 6), followed by a sparkling 45 (41b) by Abu Nachim, who was declared ‘Man of the match’.

The scores:

Chandigarh Lions 272 for seven in 50 overs (D. Mongia 108, T.P. Singh 47, R.S. Sodhi 62) lost to Kolkata Tigers 273 for seven in 49 overs (Abishek Jhunjhunwala 48, Rohan Gavaskar 67, Abu Nachim 45 not out).
