Protest by DUTA

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The Delhi University Teachers’ Association along with some teachers of the college staged a protest outside the Vice-Chancellor’s Office on Friday against the serving of show-cause notices on two senior History lecturers of St. Stephen’s College by officiating Principal Valson Thampu. “After the dharna, a delegation met the Pro-Vice Chancellor and submitted a memorandum to him urging the administration to take immediate measures for removal of the OSD and appointment of a regular Principal through due process,” said DUTA president Aditya Narayan Misra.

“The appointment of Mr. Thampu as OSD and extension of his appointment is a violation of the University Ordinances and cannot be continued,” he added. DUTA has been demanding withdrawal of the notices served on two faculty members of St. Stephen’s -- Tasneem Suhrawardy and Sangeeta Luthra Sharma.
