Bangalore: Indian Railways, the monthly magazine of the Indian Railways, has extensively featured the Bangalore Division of the South Western Railway (SWR) in its February issue. Releasing the issue, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Mahesh Mangal said all the departments in the division have made elaborate attempts to present the working of respective departments. He said Bangalore Division has grown manifold over the years, from a single broad gauge line between the city and Jolarpettai to a complete network of broad gauge lines and a double line between Bangalore and Jolarpettai with electrification. Mr. Mangal said it was the first in the country to start an integrated call centre, face-to-face video inquiry, platform ticket vending machines, cyber cafes and water recycling plant. Year 2008 being the year of cleanliness by the Railways, the division has outsourced housekeeping activities in the City Railway Stations, while providing imprest amount to station masters in other stations for the purpose.
