Meet seeks substantial funds for higher education

CHENNAI: The three-day national conference on higher education, which concluded here on Saturday, demanded a substantial allocation in the Union Budget for higher education to enable at least 15 per cent students to access higher education from the current 8 per cent.
The Chennai Declaration was released at the valedictory function of the conference on “Higher Education at Cross Roads–Aligning Academic Excellence with Access,” in which 300 experts from all over the country debated the relevance of higher education in the context of the rising global and local demands.
