Film: Veedu Maoolodu Kadhu Cast: Samrat, Rishi, Gopika Director: Ravi Sharma “Veedu Mamoolodu Kadhu” offers its audience a dragging and boring romantic story with a sprinkling of action, high brow farce, and a hopeless comedy. The problem with this film is that the underlying story is too weak to match the intensity of the film’s action sequences and the plot becomes increasingly ludicrous and complex. Gopika’s introduction scene and the family’s mock fight are annoying and the characters and situations never progress beyond the comic-book level. Debutant Samrat looks good and his work is promising. He plays the role of a college student who falls head over heels in love with Gopika. The lady plays hard to get but eventually gives in only to earn the wrath of the local ruffian Rishi. Rishi harms Samrat and kidnaps Gopika. There are subplots too. Rishi has a rival and the latter wants to eliminate him. The story becomes predictable.Mumait and Abhinayasri do little to uplift the spirits and the finale is funny a la ‘Arya’, where Rishi eventually unites the lovers and finds a new one walking down the road. Anyway, if you go and see this movie, do so with low expectations. Puerile writing, confused plotting, limp acting and weak script-this is what the film is about. Y. SUNITA CHOWDHARY
