Second phase of pulse polio campaign today

PUDUCHERRY: The Health Department plans to cover a total of 93,574 children during the second phase of the pulse polio campaign to be conducted on Sunday.

According to an official release here on Saturday, elaborate arrangements have been made to administer polio vaccine to children in the 0-5 age group during the second phase. The department had established 416 booths and formed 820 teams, each comprising four members, to carry out the campaign in all the four regions of the Union Territory. There were around 71,320 children to be covered in Puducherry region alone, the release said.

Polio drops would be administered to children in all the hospitals and at the specially made counters from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Special booths would be established in railway stations, bus stands and bordering villages, the release said.

The department would launch a door-to-door campaign on Monday and Tuesday to target the children who did not benefit from the campaign on Sunday, the release said.
