Unscientific mining criticised

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Former Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court and Chairman of the Karnataka State Human Rights Commission, S.R. Nayak, on Friday came down heavily on mining operators for unscientific mining and transport of ores in the State.

Mr. Nayak, who is also a former Judge of the Karnataka High Court, was speaking at a function organised by the Advocates’ Association of Bangalore at Vakeelara Bhavan. He regretted that the greed of unscrupulous mine operators was destroying the environment of the beautiful Malnad and Chikmagalur region.
