KIIT University Chancellor takes charge

BHUBANESWAR: Former chairman of the University of Grant Commission (UGC) Hari Gautam has taken over as Chancellor of KIIT University.

Dr. Gautam, who carries a vast experience in education, administration and expertise in health sector, would take the university to new heights, KIIT University said in a statement here.

The new chancellor had previously held various important positions such as vice-chancellor, Banaras Hindu University and King George’s Medical University, president of National Academy of Medical Sciences and chairman of board of governors, National Institute of Technology.

KIIT said former Director of IIT Kharagpur had given consent to join the university.

Former Chancellor of KIIT Achyuta Samanta was recently nominated to UGC as a member. “With Dr. Gautam’s academic and administrative control, the university is confident that it shall march ahead with a great pace,” Mr. Samanta said.
