‘No discharge of sewage into temple’

Staff Correspondent

BIDAR: Air Force officials in Bidar have denied the charge that sewage was let into the Papnash temple premises from the Air Force Station.

Members of the Shree Papnash Mahadev Trust had earlier alleged that sewage was being let into the temple from the Air Force Station, causing inconvenience to devotees.

After a section of the media reported it, officials from the Air Force Station, along with engineers, inspected the spot on Friday.

The engineers said that the chambers were connected to septic tanks through pipelines. In case of a block in the pipelines, the problem would be rectified within 24 hours on receipt of the complaint. However, for the past nine months, there had been no such complaints. Monthly inspections were being carried out by a medical officer and junior engineers attached to the station, they said.

Nitesh Thakur, a bookstall owner here, said that he had been visiting the temple for nearly 15 years and had never come across any such complaint. The temple priest too said the charge was false.

Members of the Shree Papnash Mahadev Trust were not available for comment.
