Signboards must be in Kannada, says KDA chairman

Staff Correspondent

BIDAR: Chairman of the Karnataka Development Authority (KDA) Siddalingaiah has said that a jatha will be organised to create awareness among the public on installation of signboards in Kannada.

Speaking at an interaction programme with Kannada writers here on Saturday, Mr. Siddalingaiah said that he would hold talks with Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta on making Kannada signboards compulsory for all commercial and business establishments in Bidar.

He said officials would be asked to initiate legal action against violators.

Mr. Siddalingaiah said that he would discuss with the Deputy Director of Public Instructions and the Chief Executive Officer of the zilla panchayat on distributing Kannada books in schools in border areas of the district. On the plea to rename Hyderabad Karnataka as Kalyana Karnataka, Mr. Siddalingaiah said he would convey it to the Government.
