The first year engineering student allegedly died after falling from the roof of an abandoned temple Patancheru (Medak): A first year engineering student K. Srikanth of Inole based Jyothi Engineering College died of head injury he allegedly sustained while dancing on the roof of an abandoned temple near the college campus on Saturday. Srikanth’s friends who carried his limp body to his home here told the police that he accidentally fell down from the roof of the temple in an inebriated condition. He was declared brought dead by the doctors at the Sai Ganesh Hospital. We were all drunk One of the eyewitness and friend of the deceased, Meera, said that eight students from the Electrical engineering branch skipped classes and played cricket in the open ground next the hostel. Later, they walked into the woods and reached the dilapidated temple and had few drinks and lunch. Srikanth allegedly climbed on the roof of the temple and fell on the boulders. When efforts to revive him failed, his friends called 108, but even before the ambulance arrived, they took him to his residence in an auto. ‘He was ragged’However, Srikanth’s mother, Sujatha, suspects foul play and alleged that he was murdered. She said that her son had been complaining that he was being ragged by other students since the day he joined the college. Sub Inspector Sathiah Goud who received a complaint said that a picture would emerge only after the autopsy report. College in charge Srinivasa Reddy pointed out that the college could not be held responsible as the incident occurred outside the premises.
